The Bible tells us that when we reach out to help one of the least of our brothers and sisters, we are expressing our love for the Lord Himself: “for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink.” (Matthew 25:35)

Our Ministry is dedicated to feeding the poor and hungry in our community and we welcome volunteers and ideas to expand beyond the Danbury area.

Dorothy Day Hospitality House

Volunteers are needed on the fourth Wednesday of each month to make 60 sandwiches for the Dorothy Day Hospitality House in Danbury. We meet in our parish hall to assemble the sandwiches and deliver them to Dorothy Day, which is only 10 minutes away from our parish.

Individuals, families or one of our Church Ministries or Organizations as a group, may “adopt” a fourth Wednesday of the month and host the preparations on that Wednesday morning or anytime on the Tuesday before. A detailed shopping list and instructions will be supplied.

Thank you to those who have already offered to shop, make sandwiches and deliver! Please continue to volunteer so that we can meet the needs of the homeless in our community. Volunteer once or often!

Please contact:  office@agoc.us to lend a helping hand to those in need.

"People say, what is the sense of our small effort? They cannot see that we must lay one brick at a time, take one step at a time. A pebble cast into a pond causes ripples that spread in all directions. Each one of our thoughts, words and deeds is like that. No one has a right to sit down and feel hopeless. There is too much work to do."
